2 WORKERS COMPENSATION NRMA Group is committed to providing a safe place of work for all When an employee is injured at work, workers compensation covers their treatment, rehabilitation and return to work Thrifty is committed to ensuring a safe return to work and aims for: –Immediate attention after the incident occurs –Providing restricted duties known as suitable duties –Proactive management of treatment and rehabilitation - reduce wait time To achieve this, early reporting and management of workplace injuries is paramount A positive return to work relies on quick action as soon as the injury has occurred. Thrifty has a legal obligation to adhere to the Return to Work Plan

5 THE 24 HOUR STANDARD Within 24 hours: - The injury must have been reported to the incident reporting hotline (1300 771 914) - Completed workers compensation claim form submitted to the Return to Work Coordinator The Thrifty Return To Work Coordinator will liaise with you, your doctors & managers to assist in your safe and timely return to work Thrifty’s Return To Work Coordinator is Jia Lees-smith (02 8337 2712 or 0408 984 431) Josline Youssef (HSE Consultant) at NRMA provides ongoing support The Return to Work Coordinator works with the Managers to develop a plan and agreed suitable duties in line with medical restrictions.

6 TAS PROCESS 1)Incident occurs reported incident hotline – within 24 hours 2)Get immediate medical intervention to retain control of the injury (attend doctors appointment with worker? Dear Dr Letter, Active Care) 3)Worker’s Compensation forms completed – within 24 hours 4)Injured worked to go to DR with Dear DR letter – Why? 1)To support the injured worker and get immediate medical intervention. 2)To prevent time lost as a result of not proactively managing the injury. 3)Early return to work = quicker recovery as per WorkCover studies 4)To provide duties within medical restrictions as specified by the GP and in accordance with WorkCover legislation. 5)Return To Work Plan commences – until approved for pre injury duties 6)Medical certificates & related documents ie medical expenses – sent to Return To Work Coordinator – ongoing basis. - Approval required for investigative scans ie xray, MRI All forms are included in a pack – Manager to give to every injured worker

7 MANAGER OBLIGATIONS If you become aware of an incident or injury, you must ensure that your staff member has called the hotline, and you must escalate it to your manager so that they are aware. Proactive management – if unsure as to whether or not it is work related, call and report it anyway and provide a copy of the “Dear Dr” letter if the worker is seeking medical treatment. Offer Active Care as an option (work and non-work related injuries) Ensure that the completed workers compensation claim form has been submitted to the Return to Work Coordinator within 24hrs of being notified of the incident. If medical attention is being sought, ensure that your staff member has a copy of the “Dear Doctor” letter to take with them to the appointment (regardless of whether you feel it is work or non-work related). (talk about calling in sick eg) Providing our employees with suitable duties within any medical restrictions that enables a safe, timely and durable return to work after injury or illness

8 EMPLOYEE OBLIGATIONS To maintain contact with Return To Work Coordinator, Manager and Insurer To abide by medical restrictions both at work and at home To immediately advise their manager and RTW Coordinator should they have problems performing restricted duties Adhere to Return to Work Plan To attend all appointments and review dates outside of work To forward all Medical certificates obtained as soon as possible to their Manager and Return To Work Coordinator.

9 FINANCIAL IMPACT Missed IME Appointment - $2000 MRI Scan - $800 FT Detailer unfit – minimum cost of claim = $2425/month

10 TAS – COST & NUMBER OF CLAIMS Claims data as at 12 th September 2012 Claims costs represent net incurred (ie premium impacting costs) Claim numbers represent all claims lodged to Scheme Agents / Insurers

14 3. Active Care The Active Care Program is a physiotherapy program available to all NRMA Group employees. NRMA will pay for 3 physiotherapy sessions per injury. If your injury is a work related injury, the physio will inform NRMA immediately and this will initiate the process for a workers compensation claim. 15 WC med cert The nominated treating doctor or treating specialist medical practitioner is responsible for completing the WorkCover certificate of capacity. The worker is responsible for providing a completed WorkCover certificate of capacity to the employer or insurer to be eligible for weekly payments. The certificate is one source of information that may be used by the insurer to inform work capacity assessments and decisions.
