6 Discussion - Future Outlook Environment The Funding environment will remain challenging  OECD-DAC donor group likely to reduce ODA due to continued economic crisis  Asia-Pacific success story will continue and will mean ODA flows will be directed away from the region  More donors will move towards competitive calls  MICs: countries will move out of the grant and concessional loan programmes into government borrowing > IFI cooperation  ASEAN Economic Community 2015 may increase potential for South-South Cooperation > cost recovery?  Donor scrutiny: AMA, MOPAN assessments

7 Discussion - Future Outlook Approach Local fundraising will continue to be the best growth avenue for the region UN a major donor – importance of engagement Targeted capacity building and awareness programmes: constituents Reduce transaction costs for resource mobilization and technical cooperation: competitive calls Work on longer term partnerships and new modalities: e.g. PPP Focus on relationship management: Partnerships Do we have a brand / product? – visibility!
