4 Risk Assessment Not every event is a public health event – – Look at historic outcomes of event in the past – Risk Calculations – Weather – Food – Communicable Disease Preserve your relationships

5 District Planning Team Meet regularly with a district planning team to determine priorities and strategies. – What are the major public health risks? – Don’t get side tracked Stay in your lane

6 Event Planning Team Regularly attended multi-disciplinary planning team Worked with Partners to express concerns and recommendations Heat was a major concern of ours – Worked with hospital to donate a truckload of bottled water which was given out for free – Initially some concerns because of vendors

7 Central Office Here to support you and provide resources – Help with regulations and resources – Camping – Temporary Water Works – OEMS We regularly met with Central Office to update on our event Politically Sensitive Issues

8 Epidemiology Engage your epis early – Data, Data, Data Central Office supported our epi team with 6 people.

9 Volunteers Used volunteers from across the Northern Region to support City of Manassas first aid tents. We integrated them into their system – paired with Fire / EMS.

10 Worker Safety Event took place of majority of the county, on the hottest days of the year. – Accountability – Accidents – Communication – Vehicles Developed a safety program, which paved the way for our district safety program
