3 Create your own Similes & Metaphors 1.Using the Story Buddy app, create a book composed of similes and metaphors. You must use the camera on the ipad to take pictures of various objects. After you collect your pictures, you and your partner will then create a simile or metaphor that reflects what is seen in your picture. 2.You will take a total of 10 pictures, and write similes and metaphors about them. You must use 5 similes and 5 metaphors. 3.After you finish your story, you and your partner must audio record your story. 4.You may “spice it up” by being creative if you finish early. (ex. changing text size/color, changing the size of your photos, backgrounds, etc.) 5.When all students are done, we will share each story on the Apple TV. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): RL.5.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative language such as metaphors and similes.

4 Create your own Similes & Metaphors 1.Using the Story Buddy app, create a book composed of similes and metaphors. You must use the camera on the ipad to take pictures of various objects. You must use 5 similes and 5 metaphors. 3.Proofread your writing for spelling, capitalization, and punctuation errors. 4.Change ipads with another pair of students to give them feedback on their book and vice versa. Make a list of things they can improve on. Be sure to also include a few positive comments too! 5.Work with your partner to fix and/or “bump up” your own book of similes and metaphors. 6.After you finish your book, you and your partner must audio record your story. 7.You may “spice it up” by being creative if you finish early. (ex. changing text size/color, changing the size of your photos, etc.) 8.When all students are done, we will Skype with a 4 th grade class to share our simile and metaphor books!
