4 Each team will race a heat and a final. Heats will be timed, with the fastest 2 teams going into the “A” final, next two into the “B” final etc. Finals are “first across the line”, with the winners of the “A” final being the overall competition winners of the year group competition. 5 The race format is the Team Pursuit – it’s one of the Olympic events in which GB men’s and women’s teams won gold medals at London 2012. A race is 8 laps Teams must maintain a gap of NO MORE than 2 bike lengths. Failure to do so can result in disqualification. Riders must change the lead rider every half-lap. Failure to do so can result in disqualification. However teams are allowed to “lose” one rider during the race. This rider must move out to the outside of the track. The bell will ring to tell riders that there is one lap to go. The team’s time is taken on the third rider to cross the line. Race Rules

6 2 teams race at a time Riders receive their bikes opposite the start line on the outside of the track (along the back straight). Marshalls should ensure all gears are changed back to be the same (middle chain-ring, middle sprocket) before riders are given their bikes. By the time the riders get their bikes, the scorer should have recorded the team names on the start sheet. Riders ride halfway around the track to the start line. Race Procedure 1
