7 Audit Overview  Each partnership will have a two-day audit  Late April – Early May 2015  Incorporate student auditors  Aim to:  Accredit the partnership with either the ‘Responsible Futures Accreditation’ or a ‘Working Towards Responsible Futures Accreditation’  Collect useful research for NUS and the partnership  Gain in depth feedback on RF  Provide institutions with a useful post-audit document

8 Documentary review  Workbook and evidence submitted by 17 April  Student auditors lead process of reviewing this evidence, crediting appropriate points, meeting with partnership group for clarification/further evidence

10 Interviews Three interviews: One representative from the students’ union, One from the institution, And one other individual (who could be a trustee, senior management, or an academic; they should be involved with the university/college/students’ union in a formal capacity but do not have to have been a part of the working group, i.e. not a community member or external stakeholder). The interviews will aim to: Verify evidence for the criteria as well as further understand impact and difficulty of criteria; More deeply understand successes and challenges of participation in Responsible Futures so that NUS can make improvements to the programme; And gain feedback on the programme in order to shape future years.

11 Student Focus Groups Two focus groups, 8-10 students, one intervention group and one non-intervention group The aims of the focus groups are to: Have students articulate their own definitions for sustainability, SRS, ESD, LfS, etc. (partnership to sign off what terminology we explore to ensure local applicability); Have students articulate their own learning pre- and post- intervention (intervention may vary); And understand to what extent Responsible Futures (specifically) has impacted their learning vs. broader impacts as a result of existing or unrelated sustainability and social responsibility interventions by the institution or students’ union.

13 Proposed Planning for 2015/16 Aim to open the scheme to further participants on a self-funded basis from summer 2015 Assuming: pilot continues to go well and that we can clearly evidence attributable progress and impact Aim to extend reach whilst ensuring current level of support and mentorship to partnerships Pilot institutions will be included for three years following receipt of ‘RF Accreditation’ or ‘RF Working Towards Accreditation’

14 Proposed Planning for 2015/16 Criteria open access with a free registration Annual membership fee with top up fee to cover audits Exploring strategic partnerships with organisations including: People & Planet, The EAUC, Association of University Directors of Estates, Association of Heads of University Administration, Committee of University Chairs, Universities UK, Association of Colleges, Higher Education Academy, The funding councils, and the Regional Centres of Excellence (RCE) on ESD Promoting to students unions, institutions, and other key stakeholders through sector events March – July 2015
