Today’s Agenda Guided Notes Maybe I Have, Who Has? Maybe return to challenge questions “New Review” Any questions about the test?

Review Game Rules I will ask a question to the class. Each participant (that’s you) writes down the answer silently. – Not each group…each individual. After a few moments, I will say, “Compare answers.” Each of you will look at what the other wrote.

Review Game Rules The List of Do Nots: – Do not talk to each other, make noises, gesture, give answers (my discretion here) between when the question has been read and when I say, “Compare answers.” Doing so will result in a disqualification for that round. Don’t believe me? Try it. – Do not fall asleep when I’m getting scores. If you’re not paying attention, I’m not giving you points.

Review Question 1 In addition to light and chlorophyll, photosynthesis requires what? HINT: THERE ARE TWO ANSWERS – YOU MUST GET BOTH FOR CREDIT – Water and Carbon Dioxide.

Review Question 2 Photosynthesis creates which two products? – Glucose and oxygen.

Review Question 3 You have constructed a four-level trophic pyramid for a local ecosystem. The bottom level has a biomass of 10,000 “energy units.” How much energy is available to the top level? – 10 energy units.

Review Question 4 If you wanted to measure the rate of respiration, what gas would you try to measure? – Carbon dioxide.

Review Question 5 Imagine you have built a small craft capable of plowing straight into the center of the chloroplast. If you were naming the craft after the name of the innermost chloroplast space, what would it be called? – The Stroma. – Also acceptable: The Destroyer Stroma, H.M.S. Stromaside, You Sunk My Stroma!

Review Question 6 When a molecule of ATP is converted to ADP, what is the process called? – Dephosphorylation. – Also acceptable: Hydrolysis.

Review Question 7 BONUS NON-BIOLOGY QUESTION You may wager any/all of your points. Category: Space What was the name of the first mission that successfully landed men on the moon? – Apollo 11.

Review Question 8 Which scientist compared the weight of soil in which a plant was planted to the same soil’s weight five years later? – Jan van Helmont.

Review Question 9 What substance causes muscle soreness in humans? – Lactic acid.

Review Question 11 Is glycolysis anaerobic or aerobic? – Anaerobic.

Review Question 12 Biomass can best be thought of, with respect to the 10% rule, as a measure of weight, energy, or mass? – Energy.

Review Question 13 Joseph Priestley’s primary discovery about plants was what? – They produce oxygen.

Review Question 14 How many ATP molecules are produced during the combined Krebs Cycle and Electron Transport Chain only? – 36.

Review Question 15 BONUS NON-BIOLOGY QUESTION You may wager any/all of your points. Category: Toys LEGOs originated in which country? – Denmark.

Review Question 16 The second half of photosynthesis goes by what name? – The Calvin Cycle (or The Dark Reactions or Light- Independent Reactions).

Review Question 17 Fermentation allows what specific process to continue? – Glycolysis.

Review Question 18 Glycolysis produces how many total ATP molecules? – 4 ATP (but costs 2 to start).

Review Question 19 What step in the processes of photosynthesis and respiration is common to both? – Electron Transport Chain (ETC).

Review Question 20 BONUS NON-BIOLOGY QUESTION You may wager any/all of your points. Category: Film What was the name of the first “talking” motion picture? – The Jazz Singer (1927)
