Intervention and Supports for Students

 Strong core instruction for all students in reading and math  Supplementary instruction and supports for students who need it  Targeted, additional supports for those needing even more

 Screening assessments three times per year (August/January/May) in reading and math  Collaborative planning and problem solving among classroom and supporting teachers  Multiple sources of data considered  Flexible small groups; needs of students reviewed every 6-8 weeks

 Screening (3 times per year) Generally administered to all, helps us determine what we need to study more (or who)  Diagnostic (as needed) Helps us dig deeper and understand more, including what to do next based on strengths/needs  Progress Monitoring (weekly/monthly) Frequent, short assessments that show small amounts of growth; also helps us monitor our instruction  Mastery (i.e. class tests, Edison, MAP) Helps us know if students “get it” or if they need more instruction

 Deliberate focus on early intervention with expectation that all students will be at or above grade level by end of third grade  Keysor is viewed as a model school in Missouri for both RTI (Response to Intervention) and PBS (Positive Behavior Support), with frequent guests to our building and presenting opportunities for staff

Progress Monitoring Data from AIMSWEB

 Common classroom and grade level assessments provide feedback to teachers about student understanding  Monthly Edison assessments in grades 2-5 provide ongoing information about student progress toward Grade Level Expectations (GLEs)  Other assessments (i.e. Rigby levels, SRI) allow us to measure growth over time and against approximate grade level standards.

 MAP test in grades 3-5 measures student performance against year-end grade level expectations  Currently aligned with Missouri state GLEs (also our curriculum, Edison assessments, report cards)  Data crunched and analyzed by teachers/administrators to support individual students and inform collective work.  New assessments, aligned with Common Core State Standards, will begin in 2014-2015. Current 1 st graders will never take the MAP tests.

 Students take monthly assessments  Teachers analyze individual and class data, reteaching content and, when necessary, teaching into test-taking skills  School-level analysis of data against historical trends. How have other Keysor Kids with similar scores later fared on the MAP test? Use these predictions to better support individuals and groups of learners.
