4 SPORT FOR ALL Get active and involved in sport Sport is accessible to all regardless of ability. If you look closely enough there will be sports clubs to cater for you, even if you are a complete novice. The health benefits of participation in sport are obvious, so it's time to get active and get into sport! An old fashioned term, from the Sport Council Days used for short courses to get different client groups involved. BRIAN BRINKLEY

5 CCPR The Central Council of Physical Recreation (CCPR), now known as the Sport and Recreation Alliance, is the national representative body for national sports organisations in the United Kingdom.sports The organisation Is the organisation for the national governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation in the UK Speaks and acts to promote, protect and develop the interests of sport and physical recreation at all levels Is at the forefront of sports politics, providing support and services to those who participate in and administer sport and recreation Is completely independent of any form of Government control Has no responsibility for allocating funds Is strictly non-party and will support or oppose proposed measures only on the basis of their perceived value to sport and recreation Its members range from large national governing bodies of sport such as the Football Association and the Rugby Football Union to smaller members such as Stoolball or Kitesurfing. The members are divided by activity type into one of six divisions, covering Major Spectator Sports, Outdoor Pursuits, Movement and Dance, Water Recreation and Interested Organisations. 14 UTILITARIANISM Definition: Utilitarianism is a moral philosophy, generally operating on the principle that the utility (happiness or satisfaction) of different people can not only be measured but also meaningfully summed over people and that utility comparisons between people are meaningful. That makes it possible to achieve a well-defined societal optimum in allocations, production, and other decisions, and achieve the goal utilitarian British philosopher Jeremy Bentham described as "the greatest good for the greatest number.“ How does this effect Sport Develpment BRIAN BRINKLEY

15 COMPETITIVE TENDERING Competitive Tendering also known as open tender is considered to be a system of purchasing goods or services by inviting bids or & is quote and or is both and choosing the supplier from among the bids received.
