3 Causes of the French and Indian War In the 1750s, France and Britain were fighting in Europe. The tensions spread to the colonies. The British colonists wanted to take over French lands between the Appalachians and the Mississippi River and Canada to make money in the fur trade. He was killed at the Battle of Fort Duquesne, (present Pittsburg, Pennsylvania) using ineffective battle tactics. 10 Key Events in the French and Indian War Battle of Fort Duquesne, Pa (present Pittsburg) in which General Braddock is killed and the young George Washington takes command. Battle of Quebec, British take control of Canada. NC builds Fort Dobbs at Statesville to protect settlers from French and Indian attacks. Moravians build a fort at Bethabara for protection.

12 Results of the French and Indian War Treaty of Paris  French Canada goes to England  All French controlled lands between the Appalachian Mtns. And the Miss. River goes to the English Proclamation of 1763 -British Parliament says the American colonists can not settle in the new gain lands due to Indians and the costs of building protective forts Parliament begins raising taxes on the colonies to pay for the war. This will lead to the American Revolution (1775-1781)
