The elephant is bigger than the mouse. Coke is cheaper than champagne. Champagne is more expensive than Coke. Michael Jordan is taller than the gymnast. The gymnast is shorter than Michael Jordan. Math is easier than Calculus. Calculus is more difficult than Math.

3 Form adjective comparative adjective one-syllable adjectives
ex. tall, short, high, low adjective + er taller, shorter, higher, lower one-syllable adjectives ending in one vowel + one consonant: double the consonant bigger, fatter, thinner, *** don’t double ‘w’ low → lower two-syllable adjectives ending in –y friendly, dirty, lazy adjective + ier friendlier, dirtier, lazier two-syllable or more adjectives famous, beautiful, important more + adjective more famous, more important irregular adjectives good, bad, far good → better bad → worse far → further or farther Remember to use ‘than’ in comparative sentences: Meridian Hotel is more expensive than Best Western Petrol prices are higher than last year.

4 superlative The elephant is the biggest.
Michael Jordan is the tallest. Calculus is the most difficult.
