2 Stalin attends theological seminary
influenced by Messame Dassy (MD) 1989 introduced to the ideas of Karl Marx 1899 expelled from seminary, and MD in 1901

3 1901 joins RSDLP Russian Socialist Democratic Labor Party and becomes professional revolutionary
Led strikes and robbed banks while leaders were in exile 1902 arrested and exiled to Siberia, escaped in 1904 Exiled to Siberia from (Romanov’s overthrown)

19 The Left self-destructs
Zinoviev and Kamenev turn on Trotsky questioning his Bolshevik credentials Trotsky publishes ‘Lessons of October’ which criticises Zinoviev and Kamenev’s conservatism during the Revolution Stalin stays in background allowing left to tear itself to pieces Zinoviev and Kamenev happy to allow Stalin to continue to appoint delegates to further alienate their enemy ‘Trotsky’ By 1925 he Trotsky no longer a potential party leader

21 14th Party Congress 1925 Kamenev attacked NEP & Stalin’s Socialism in One Country Stalin decides to support the NEP Politburo increased to 9 (Molotov, Kalinin & Voroshilov were added) Kamenev was voted out

23 -1926 Kamenev, Zinoviev & Trotsky create the United Opposition -Stalin labelled them factionalists -Trotsky exiled to Kazakhstan Kamenev & Zinoviev begged for forgiveness and were let back into the party

25 -1927 the War Scare leads to grain hoarding, Stalin no longer supports NEP and starts grain requisitioning in /9 Politburo members owe their positions to Stalin Bukharin, Rykov, and Tomsky (NEP supporters) were voted out of Politburo easily (5 members owe position to Stalin)
