2. What is Science? Science is an organized body of knowledge. Why Organized? To be accessible for all. Why Knowledge and not Facts? Because knowledge is what we know now and can change, facts are what we know for sure and do not change!

3. Have scientific facts ever changed? Yes! The Earth is Flat! If you go too far you will fall off of the edge. Anything else? The Earth is the center of the universe.

4. What is a scientist? A person who enhances the body of knowledge known as science. Science pursues knowledge for knowledge sake.

5. Two responsibilities of a Scientist 1.Measure Accurately 2. Record Responsibly

6. Today’s World The age of technology and information. We are in a world were we do not have time to process and so we must make snap decisions.

7. The age of Stress We have too much information to process all at once so we must eliminate anything we do not see as important. We “Multitask” without truly focusing on any task. We stay “Plugged- in” and never relax.

8. Scientific Observation View the world as a “Three Year Old”. Everything is important because you are seeing it for the first time.

9. Two Types of Observations Qualitative: A general description of an object. Typically using the five senses. Sight, Sound, Touch, Smell and Taste. Examples are color, shape texture etc.

10. Quantitative: A numerical description of an object. Typically measured using a tool. Examples: Height, weight etc.

11. You Try! The apples are round. Qualitative There are six stems in the picture. Quantitative. Notice all of the observations are full sentences.
