1 Welcome to the 2016 Wisconsin 4-H & Youth Conference

2 First, take care of paperwork… Youth register between 6 p.m. April 1 and Midnight, April 12. Register in your WI4honline account By April 12 Sign and submit Water Sport and Community Service Liability Waivers, if applicable Complete the University Health Form found at www.uhs/wics.edu/campus-health/youth-programs/ Send that form to University Health Services (address can be found in the registration guide). If you must arrive late/leave early, mail or bring to Conference a signed Excused Absence Form.

3 What to Bring I will dress in a manner that is appropriate, tasteful and respectful to me and others based on the occasion/seminar that I am attending. I will avoid clothing and accessories that depict violence, sex, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, death, gangs or other offensive or obscene pictures or language. I will not wear clothing that reveals my underclothing, midsection, torso, chest, cleavage or upper thighs. I represent 4-H and my county. Therefore, I will wear casual, neat clothing that is appropriate for Conference activities and events and the weather. THE 4-H CONFERENCE DRESS CODE PLEDGE I

6 What to Bring Alarm clock Money for pizza, shopping, snacks, etc. Notebook and pens Personal toiletry items Prescriptions and/or over- the-counter medications Towels and soap Favorite pillow, if desired Inexpensive or disposable camera (optional)- label camera with your name! Water Bottle (optional) Music, costumes, props or other items needed for the Talent Show, if applicable extras

7 What NOT to Bring Bed linens, blankets, pillows are provided valuablesPlease do not bring valuables –expensive cameras, jewelry, laptops, or electronics

8 When You Arrive Cars and buses may unload by Sellery Hall in the parking lot between Dayton and Johnson Streets A Wisconsin 4-H Leadership Council member will be there to greet you

9 Registration/Check In Adult Advisors check in their county delegations at Sellery Hall. –Receive nametags, room keys & wrist bands for meals. Nametags should be worn at all times! Always have your wristband and room key with you!

10 Floor Meetings At 2:15, a Meet and Greet for youth and County Adult Advisors will be held after Registration but before tours. Floor meetings will be held Monday afternoon and each night –Led by members of the Wisconsin 4-H Leadership Council (WLC) Reflect on the day’s activities Remind you of what’s coming up tomorrow Time to connect with your Adult Advisor (chaperones) Ask questions

12 Where will you be staying? Sellery Hall Sellery Hall, a UW-Madison dormitory on the southeast corner of campus

13 Dorm Life Dorm rooms have two beds You will share a room with another delegate from your county, if possible Rooms are air- conditioned and each has a refrigerator The dorm has community-style bathrooms

14 Meals Gordon Dining Facility is right next to your dorm Delegates need to wear their wristbands for entry. All you can eat! A vegetarian entrée and many fresh veggies and fruits are available.

15 Conference Rules Dress appropriately No SAD –smoking, alcohol, drugs Follow dorm rules –Keep windows, screens closed –Don’t misuse fire alarms –Honor curfew –Honor curfew, lights-out times 10:30 pm and 7am –Don’t use phones between 10:30 pm and 7am

16 First Aid & Emergency Issues Remember to drink enough water to stay healthy! First Aid is available on site around the clock. If you are feeling ill, please inform an Adult Advisor or any staff member so they can obtain assistance for you. Emergency transportation is available to medical facilities, if needed.

17 State Street a fun place to visit during afternoon free time Delegates CANNOT leave dorm grounds without an Adult Advisor.

18 Safety Precautions State Street is Off Limits after Dark! Whenever away from the conference site, you need to be in a group with an Adult Advisor. DO NOT give any money or talk to homeless people! Street Smart Issues

19 Safety Precautions Volunteer Coordinators will direct conference traffic –Please follow the conference route and be aware that Madison drivers don’t always follow traffic rules! WarningWarning: traffic doesn’t always stop for red lights! waitAlways cross at crosswalks and wait for pedestrian cross signals Traffic Safety Issues

20 Free Time Free time is when County Delegation Photos are taken –talk with your county delegation to decide what kind of attire to wear and when/where to take the photo County Lead Advisors are to ensure that all county delegation members, plus the county 4-H Educator, receive a copy of the group photo.
