Background - What are they? Chair and Volunteer evolved from Volunteer agreement - Why have they been developed? - How have they been developed? - What benefits will they provide for our Volunteers?

Background - What are they? Not new, revised from the existing Volunteer agreement - Why have they been developed? To give a clear understanding for Chairs and other volunteers on what they are to expect and commit too - How have they been developed? Discussions with members of the Networks Committee which includes staff - What benefits will they provide for our Volunteers? To give a clear background for appointment and on how support from staff is guaranteed

Volunteer principles some key points - Potential volunteers will be provided with sufficient information to allow them to assess their suitability for the various committee roles (local or national) - Staff will assist the committee in providing new volunteering members with proper induction to the IOSH processes and procedures relevant to volunteers - Volunteers, with the assistance of staff, should plan for their activities to be of benefit to their members and to fit with the IOSH Strategy and its aims

Chairs principles some key points - Be accountable for their Network and be the key point of contact with The Grange, other Networks and external organisations - Where possible ensure their committee reflects the diversity of their membership; is not too large and/or ineffective; that all committee members are active in their role; and any co-opted members have a purpose and only remain on the committee whilst they have an active role - Work with their committee to retain existing Network members and encourage new members, providing networking opportunities and support for their development within the profession

Chairs principles some key points - Support their committee and actively encourage members to carry out roles agreed too - Be accountable for any Districts and Sections attached to their Network - Work effectively with their IOSH support staff and committee members to keep to agreed programmes and timescales - Help make network roles enjoyable and to find solutions to any disputes (preferably before they materialize) !! - To further the IOSH strategy for a safer world of work
