3 The San Saba river, is one of the many rivers located in the Great plains region. Great for rafting, fishing, birding and even swimming, the San Saba river is a popular tourist attraction. Mason, Texas, one of the most popular towns in the Llano Basin, is home of our very own Fort Mason. Pictured here, is Fort Mason then and Fort Mason now. Fort Mason served as an army port for more than 100 years. It is important to Texas, and we are very proud of it.

4 The Llano Basin has so many lakes in it, that it is also referred to as the Highland Lake Country.
The Stockton Plateau is among the most popular plateaus in Texas. The name Palo Duro means hard wood.

5 Most of the Angora goats live within 100 miles of the Edwards Plateau
Vegetation from the Edwards Plateau area. Much of the area is soft rolling hills. Until the border. Goats, Cattle, and Sheep are the main livestock that are raised in the Edwards Plateau area. This is also one of their main sources of money, due to the lack of farming from the undependable soil.

6 Kerrville, Texas, Is Home to multiple exotic game ranches, a retirement Community, and is a tourist destination Del Rio, Texas, is the largest city in this region. It is located on the Rio Grande. Kerrville lies in the center of the hill country, and is known for its German heritage and peaches

7 Hill Country The hill country is in the Edwards Plateau region. The hill country has the Highest concentration of white-tailed deer, and is known for its vegetation And Dude Ranches.

8 Edwards Plateau The Edwards Plateau is a Plateau that acts as a barrier between the Great Plains and the Coastal Plains. The Edwards Plateau is also a great spot for fishing.

10 The High Plains The High Plains are a sub region to the Great Plains.
The High Plains is a really flat region that consist of many miles plains and farming. The high Plains is a very good agricultural region because of its’ massive space and flat land to hold water.

15 Llano Estacado, aka the Staked Plains, has been a historic place for over 500 years. The area was first described by Spanish explorer Francisco Vasquez de Colorado. These are his words:"I reached some plains so vast, that I did not find their limit anywhere I went, although I travelled over them for more than 300 leagues with no more land marks than if we had been swallowed up by the sea there was not a stone, nor bit of rising ground, nor a tree, nor a shrub, nor anything to go by”. Hence the picture, Llano Estacado has grown in foliage a little bit more over the years, but it is still pretty much flat.

16 Bullets The Edwards Plateau lies farthest south of all the regions
The Edwards Plateau is completely flat, until it reaches the border, where it dips. Hence the name Plateau There is only a thin layer of soil, which is why it is hard to farm here. This sub-region is one of the most important wool producing areas in the nation Parts of the San Antonio and Austin areas are sitting on the border of this section The Edwards Plateau is the second largest sub-region of the Great Plains region. The largest is the High Plains
