2 GCSE Reform Reformed GCSEs will be introduced gradually over the next three years. more demanding controlled assessment (coursework) will be removed or reduced in the majority of GCSEs will have a new grading scale from 9 to 1

3 A new grade 1 will be at the same standard as an old grade G A new grade 4 will be at the same standard as an old grade C but a good pass at an old grade C will be increased to a new grade 5 A new grade 7 will be at the same standard as an old A The top 2 per cent of students will be awarded a new grade 9 (better than an A*).

5 This means our current Y10 will sit the new GCSEs in English language, literature and mathematics but sit the current (legacy) GCSE’s or equivalences in their other subjects
