© 2015 Call2Recycle ® All rights reserved Non-profit, public service organization founded in 1994 to deal with emerging state and federal regulation First battery product stewardship program in North America Voluntary stewardship program approved by governments in North America (New York / British Columbia / Quebec / Manitoba) Collection and recycling program offered at NO COST to consumers, retailers and participants; 100% funded by manufacturers First battery recycling program to obtain Responsible Recycling © (R2) certification and e-Stewards recognition by the Basel Action Network (BAN). ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 compliant About Call2Recycle, Inc.

© 2015 Call2Recycle ® All rights reserved Recycled nearly 12 million lbs. of batteries in 2014 Has recycled over 100 million lbs. of batteries since our inception twenty years ago Eighteen consecutive years of growth in battery collections Growth supported by 300 consumer products companies that are industry stewards and license the recycling seal on batteries in their products (Apple, Dell, DeWalt, Sony, etc.) Access to the public- drop off collection sites within 10 miles for 90% of US and Canadian population. About Call2Recycle, Inc.

© 2015 Call2Recycle ® All rights reserved Batteries in the US Marketplace: Facts and Trends  3 billion batteries sold annually in the US; 20% of which are rechargeable  Alkaline batteries (single-use) are not regulated in US (except in California & Vermont)  Batteries are managed as a universal/special waste  Strong growth in cordless/portable products changing the electronics product landscape: Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) powered products evolving, Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries declining

© 2015 Call2Recycle ® All rights reserved  Batteries come in many different chemistries and many look alike – and they are continually changing  But…they are in fact, very different:  Varying U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT) requirements, so must manage and meet strict rules and regulations  Each can be processed at different final disposal facilities  Different metals and materials can be recovered  Different batteries, Different laws: Batteries in the US Marketplace: Not All Batteries Are The Same

© 2015 Call2Recycle ® All rights reserved Current US Battery LawsFuture  Vermont: First US state to require single-use producers to develop a program for collecting and recycling spent primary batteries  Other States to Follow: Maine, California, Connecticut and Texas have introduced (or have expressed an interest to introduce) bills specific to battery recycling product stewardship

© 2015 Call2Recycle ® All rights reserved Call2Recycle: Program Overview - What we Collect Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) Nickel Zinc (Ni-Zn) Small Sealed Lead Acid (SSLA/Pb) Cellphones Alkaline/Lithium Primary

© 2015 Call2Recycle ® All rights reserved Call2Recycle: Program Overview – How we Collect Option 1: Collection Kits  Collection boxes offered at no cost  Each kit contains pre-paid, pre-addressed collection boxes that hold up to 66 lbs. each, come pre-assembled and includes plastic bags Option 2: Bulk Shipping  Large volume sites ship in bulk (≥ 500 lbs).  Batteries collected in a vented, poly-lined steel drum with lid or Call2Recycle boxes secured to a pallet  Call2Recycle provides a Bill of Lading (BOL) wizard to ease the shipping process and pays for shipping Small or large quantities? One-time shipment or on-going? Solutions that best meets customer’s needs

© 2015 Call2Recycle ® All rights reserved Navigating Transport & Safety Regulations  Call2Recycle ® works closely with federal and local officials on ensuring that its program meets all requirements.  The Call2Recycle ® collection kit is the first battery mechanism approved by USDOT under a special permit for meeting all federal shipping and handling requirements.  Easy and Safe Li-Ion Battery Shipping Bulk shipping using non-Call2Recycle boxes under 66 pounds Requires special labeling and documentation (BOL) Bulk shipping using non-Call2Recycle boxes over 66 pounds Ship as DOT regulated Hazardous Material Site provides the class 9 and UN labeling The BOL wizard prints out the BOL and the shipping label

© 2015 Call2Recycle ® All rights reserved  New US DOT standards to strengthen safety conditions for lithium cells and battery shipments - providing greater consistency with The International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by air  Replace equivalent lithium content with Watt-hours for Li-Ion cells and batteries; provides greater clarity around determining shipping classification  Separate shipping descriptions for lithium metal batteries (UN 3090) and Li-Ion batteries (UN 3480)  Revised requirements for the transport of lithium batteries for disposal or recycling  Adopt new provisions for the transport of damaged, defective and recalled lithium batteries (Call2Recycle offers a specialized safe-packaging and transportation kit).
