Organization Please make sure that your child brings their binder and any textbooks back to school each day. Please do not take anything out of the binder/homework folder without checking with your child. Your child is responsible for their work! We really try to instill good organization habits this year. This is a life skill and will help prepare them for 4 th. You can help by having your child organize his/her room. Dedicate a quiet place for homework.

Georgia Milestones The state of Georgia has adopted a new assessment system: Georgia Milestones Assessment System. This will replace the Georgia Criterion Referenced Competency Test (GCRCT). Georgia Milestones will be aligned to the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS) and will require more from students than the previous assessments, in order to better prepare students for college and career and to provide a more realistic picture of academic progress. A major benefit of the new system is that it is one consistent testing program across grades 3-12, whereas previously students took a series of individual tests. The new testing system will include open-ended questions to better gauge students’ content mastery. Third grade will no longer have a writing assessment. Writing, in response to text, will be assessed as part of the ELA assessment in each grade.. Georgia Milestones will be administered entirely online.
