2 Procedure  I modeled yesterday how to read a poem piece by piece. Now it’s your turn. (10 minutes)  1. Read the poem in your group; read it again  2. Discuss it’s meaning, including any words you don’t know  What is the poet trying to say?  How has the word choice impacted the message?  What was the author’s purpose?  How did the author use rhetoric?  3. Annotate as instructed  4. Answer questions as indicated  5. Teach what you know from your discussion

4 Procedure—text evidence and citations  Prep for Informational Essay: What are the qualities necessary for survival?  Choose three quotes from each piece of literature we studied that define or provide qualities necessary for survival.  1. Define, in your own words, what it means to survive  2. Look through all the literature we studied this quarter (Night, “An Ordinary Man”, “The End and The Beginning”, “The Survivor”, “Who Understands Me”)  3. Write down 3 quotes each that will support your definition  4. Write down the page #, line #, author, title, which book

5 March 4  SSR  ReplayIt – in the app store. Share pictures from your field trip and have a chance for them to be in this year’s yearbook.

6 March 7 make up day—get straight to work  What you need:  Text Book  Close reader  Pen/pencil  Notebook paper (maybe)  Turn in your work from day.  Assignment make up day.  Please research what assignments you are missing or are incomplete, do the, and turn them in.
