8  Credits: Reach 280 total credits.  Each class is worth 10 credits.  Earn credits with a grade of “D” or higher.  4 classes per term. 2 terms per year.  Classes:  Complete required classes listed on the transcript. High School Graduation Requirements

9  UC – 7 of the 9 campuses now have an average GPA of 4.0+  CSU – 3.0 GPA will guarantee admission to about half of the campuses  Community College – English and Math assessment – are you ready for college level work?  Private Colleges – in addition to test scores and GPA, want to see leadership, extra-curriculars, and community service Grades, and Courses, Matter!

12 Planner sheets are a direct communication to your counselor. Carefully consider your choices. We base staffing on your requests so you will not get to make changes in the fall. Schedule Pick-up Day in August – you’ll get notification this summer from Del Campo with the date and time. THE PROCESS

13 All freshmen are required to take English I or Honors English 1. Eligible for Honors English 1 A or B average in Eng 8 A,B,C average in Honors Eng 8. If you are interested in Honors English 1 but did not prequalify, please choose Eng 1 on your Planner Sheet and pick up a Honors Challenge form. 1. FRESHMAN ENGLISH I

14 Students must earn at least 20 credits in math to graduate. Mark the course listed on your articulation card. You can add “Support” if desired. 2. MATH

15 Students must earn at least 20 credits in science to graduate. 10 of these credits must be in life science and 10 must be in physical science. Most Freshmen are scheduled to take Integrated Science, which earns 5 credits of life and 5 credits of physical science. You are qualified for Honors Biology if you have an A or B average in 8 th grade science. 3. SCIENCE

16 All freshmen are required to take PE 1 – it is a GRADUATION REQUIREMENT. 4. PHYSICAL EDUCATION

20 AVID 1 – The selection process is not complete, but you can select it as an alternate. For an application email dboyd@sanjuan.edudboyd@sanjuan.edu ROTC - students must select ROTC twice Fall (Block 1) and Spring (Block 2). Student Government – Applications are available on the side table, the deadline is Friday, April 17. Interviews will be held in the coming weeks. Elective year-long Programs

21 Some elective courses which are new or have specific restrictions or requirements are outlined below: Guitar Students must be able to provide their own acoustic guitar to take this class. Academic Decathlon Academic Decathlon is a competitive academic team with divisions for students of all GPAs. Students may receive college credit for this course from CSUS. Looks great on a college resume. Concert Band or Choir – half-year or full year Spanish or French. Students may register to take Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 or French 1 and French 2 in a single year. Freshmen who take a language should be strong in English. Games and Game Theory (Chess)

24  Fall sports – start before the first day of school  Winter and Spring sports – some have summer programs  All sports  fill out an interest sheet  must have a physical within one calendar year  Eligibility – must maintain a 2.0 (C average) to keep playing without probation Athletics at Del Campo

25 When you have completed your planner sheet a counselor will review it and collect your green articulation card at the tables on the side. Carefully consider your choices and make sure you have alternates marked. You will not be permitted to change your classes once they begin. ENDING REMINDERS
