1 Motivation / Objectives This work is part of a research project to obtain a graduate degree in econometrics depth of the University Hassan II Casablanca Morocco. The purpose of this research is to report the results of surveys conducted by the Association R & D Morocco. Specifically, this research aims to: Identify the behavior of industrial enterprises in R & D and Innovation, and emphasize the importance of corporate strategies in the development of innovation. Understanding the mechanisms of technological learning of Moroccan companies and dynamic determinants that lead to innovation. Understanding the role of interactions between economic actors to promote innovation in enterprises, and discuss the importance of certain measures and influences of economic environment of companies. Assessing the impact of R & D and innovation on the economic performance of companies. Methodology We used econometric tool to analyze the determinants of innovation (Probit model). Y i= c X i + E i with Yi the decision to innovate or not, and Xi: internal and external variables of the company Then, using a model with two equations we analyze the impact. The first examines the determinants of the intensity of expenditure on R & D as an indicator of the degree of innovation of the company, and the second equation examines the impact of this intensity on firm performance, the indicator of performance retained is turnover per worker. Data base The data used came from a 2005 survey by the Association R & D Morocco. The sample size is 1001 firms, and the choice of these companies has been done so that the sample is representative of all companies, and this by respecting a certain number of criteria characterizing the Moroccan economy namely: The geographical distribution of firms and their classification by sector, turnover and staff numbers. Approach this work analyzes the characteristics and determinants of the decision to innovation and their impact on economic performance of the Moroccan companies from the National Survey on R & D and innovation carried out by the Moroccan Association for R&D in 2004/2005, with 1001 companies. The proportion of innovative firms in the sample is 41%, (a company is called innovative if it has conducted at least an R & D / Innovation in the last three years, whatever the type of innovation radical or incremental, product, process, service, or organization as defined by the OECD "Oslo Manual 1997). Our study addresses a first time, the question of the influence of company characteristics and interactions between actors in the national system of innovation on the decision to do or not do R & D. In a second time we evaluate the impact of innovation through research and development expenditures on the performance of the company, to show companies the value of innovation. Results According to the results of the Probit model, if we want draw a portrait type of innovative companies in Morocco, we find that the largely dominant model is that of a company of big size, often a subsidiary of a group, serving a market international dimension. Furthermore, the results of the second model also show that innovative firms in terms of R & D expenditures per worker are SMEs. The successful companies are those that spend more on R & D per worker. This result justifies the important role of R & D in maintaining productivity and competitiveness. Policy implications these last years Morocco has implemented a policy in favor of innovation. But innovation in Moroccan enterprises remains relatively low. An effective policy must take into account the specificity and heterogeneity of the national economic fabric. Next steps / The way forward. This work will be completed by a research project as part of a PhD which aims to explore: The determinants of the outsourcing of R & D. The decision to use the patents for the protection of research results. Assessing the impact of international cooperation on scientific performance in Morocco (this objective is part of the European project M2ERA to Morocco, which aims to ease the integration of Morocco into the European Research Area). Place any additional logos on the bottom of the poster, evenly spaced between the JRC and (if there is one) the Directorate or Institute logo, and vertically centred with them.
