4 Graduation Requirements 1.Foreign Language is not required for graduation, but is required at some colleges and universities 2.For the Diploma with Honors, the foreign language must be 3 years of the same language or 2 years from 2 different languages 3.Electives include any additional class from those listed on the chart, Industrial Arts, Computer Technology, and Family and Consumer Sciences. 4.Students can earn up to 6.75 credits in 9 th grade; 6.75 credits in 10 th grade; 7 credits in the 11 th grade; and 7 credits in the 12 th grade for a total of 27.5 credits

6 Earning High School Credit Credit for each high school course is granted by: – earning a 60% or higher (D-) average for the semester – Antwerp High School semester is comprised of 2 nine weeks grades and one exam grade – Each nine weeks is worth 40% of the semester grade and the exam is worth 20% – For courses that do not have exams, 1 st nine weeks and 2 nd nine weeks are both worth 50% of the semester grade

8 New Graduation Tests End of Course Assessments – Each subject test is made up of 2 parts Performance Based Assessment End of Year Test – Replaces the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) for students graduating in 2018 and beyond – Students must accumulate 18 points over their high school career to be eligible for graduation

9 Tested Subjects Algebra I (8 th -10 th ) Geometry (9 th -11 th ) Physical Science (9 th or 10 th ) American History (10 th ) American Government (11 th ) English I (9 th ) English II (10 th ) **your student will take the exam in March and May of the year that they are enrolled in the courses listed above**

10 Performance Based Assessment (PBA) Students will construct their responses Responses will be graded by an outside trained educator PBA assessments will be given when 75% of the tested course is completed (approximately March of each school year)

11 End of Year Assessments (EOY) Students will respond to multiple choice type questions Responses will be computer scored EOY assessments will be given at the end of each tested course (May of each school year)

12 Testing Grading Scale The PBA + EOY will give the students an overall score between 1-5. 5 = Advanced 4 = Accelerated 3 = Proficient 2 = Basic 1 = Limited

13 Testing Requirements for Graduation Students must accumulate 18 points through the 7 End of Course Assessments 4 points must come from Algebra I and Geometry 4 points must come from English I and English II 6 points must come from Physical Science, American History and American Government Any student that took Algebra I in the 8 th grade last year has automatically earned 3 points

14 Retaking End of Course Assessments Students who score below proficient can retake the test after they have received remediation for the course Students who score proficient or higher on an End of Course Assessment can retake test only if, after all 7 tests have been scored, they do not meet the minimum (18 point) requirement to graduate.

15 Alternatives Pathways to Graduation You can still earn a diploma if you do not earn 18 points on the End of Course Assessments by: – Earning a remediation free score on a nationally recognized college admissions test such as the ACT/SAT OR – Earning an approved, industry recognized credential that demonstrates workforce readiness and employability (Vantage) AND – Completing all of the other graduation requirements
