1 BELL RINGER: APRIL 29/MAY 2 PLEASE TAKE OUT YOUR SHORT STORY ROUGH DRAFT AND GRAB TWO OF THE PEER EDITING WORKSHEETS FROM STACK ON THE DESK WHEN YOU FIRST ENTER THE ROOM.

2 PEER EDITING: 45 MINUTES You need to find two people to read your story. You may want to get into a group of three to make that happen easily. Each person will read your story and will fill out the worksheet. Once both people have THOROUGHLY read your story and provided feedback. Bring your story and the two peer edit sheets to me for check-off.

3 COURTLY LOVE & CHIVALRY: ARE THEY DEAD? In the medieval time period there were rules for how people should act in relationships, as well as how to be a gentleman. The relationship rules were called rules of Courtly Love, while the rules on how to be a gentleman were referred to as Chivalry. These rules (I will show you some examples) don't necessarily relate to us today, so modern rules are needed. Find a group of 3-4 people and do the following: Create 15 rules for chivalry (how to act like a gentleman or lady) or courtly love (how to treat each other in a relationship), or create 8/7 rules about each (to equal 15) to be presented to the class next class period.

4 CODE OF CHIVALRY TO FEAR GOD AND MAINTAIN HIS CHURCH TO SERVE THE LIEGE LORD IN VALOR AND FAITH TO PROTECT THE WEAK AND DEFENSELESS TO GIVE SUCCOR (ASSISTANCE) TO WIDOWS AND ORPHANS TO REFRAIN FROM THE WANTON (DELIBERATE) GIVING OF OFFENSE TO LIVE BY HONOR AND FOR GLORY TO DESPISE PECUNIARY (MONETARY) REWARD TO FIGHT FOR THE WELFARE OF ALL TO OBEY THOSE PLACED IN AUTHORITY To guard the honor of fellow knights To eschew (avoid) unfairness, meanness and deceit To keep faith At all times to speak the truth To persevere to the end in any enterprise begun To respect the honor of women Never to refuse a challenge from an equal Never to turn the back upon a foe
