Rotary India Global Dream – Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM) initiative under ‘Adult Literacy’ programme to achieve ‘Total Literacy & Quality Education’ for All is in tune with ‘Saakshar Bharat’ campaign of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

RILM to educate 2,00,000 non-literate adults above the age of 15 years, duly recognised by the MHRD this year.

3. Role of Teachers
Attend the seminar to best understand the Rotary India Global Dream.
Submit the School Commitment form to the Program Co-ordinators, who had approached you earlier seeking your school’s approval in the project.
You will be provided with a folder on Teachers’ & Students’ Guides, Reporting Format and a RIGD toolkit. Request for a minimum of 50 toolkits have to be made to the RILM office for the request to be entertained.

Motivate the students of classes VI to XII to get themselves registered online as volunteer teachers.
Guide the students on how to design an online scrapbook, detailing their successful completion of the project.
Fill up the reporting format, get it signed by the Principal & hand it over to the Program Co-ordinator after the completion of the project. 3

4. Role of student volunteers
Students of classes VI to XII should register online to volunteer as teachers for the programme during their summer vacations.
Each student volunteer teacher to identify an adult non-literate, who is above the age of 15 years
Each volunteer is provided with a customised toolkit, in a language acceptable to both the adult learner as well as the volunteer. The toolkits are available in Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Telegu, Kannada, Marathi and Gujarati languages.
Each volunteer should familiarize himself/ herself with the toolkit before he/she starts imparting the lessons to the adult learners 4

5. Role of student volunteers
Each to fix the time and date with the adult learner so as to invest minutes each day over a minimum period of days to make the adult functionally literate.
Prepare a scrapbook detailing his/her experience and upload it on the Rotary India Global Dream website,
Ensure that the adult neo-literate appears for the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) examination conducted in the months of March or August, which will certify the learner as literate.
Students who successfully participate in the programme get a certificate. 5
