3 The aim of this module is to investigate the technical and tactical requirements of a sport and the methods of improving their own technical and tactical ability

4 To know the technical and tactical demands of a selected sport To understand the technical and tactical awareness in a selected sport To be able to plan and undertake a 6 week programme to develop own technical skills and tactical awareness To be able to review own technical and tactical development and set goals for further development

5 Technical demands: skills (e.g. Continuous) running, serial (high jump) and discrete (golf swing) Tactical demands; defending and attacking principles (e.g. Positioning, choice and use of correct shoes), conditions, use of space

6 Performance analyses: observation, video analyses, notational analyses Analysis model: analyses, evaluate, perform, observe Strengths and areas for improvement; relating to performance demands, (e.g. Performance profiling) Elite performance; professional athletes, Olympic athletes Methods of assessment; analyses and observation (self, peerfs, coaches, trainers), interviews, presentation of skills

7 Aims and objectives: based on strengths and weaknesses identified, Targets: SMART Training: planned, structured, warm up and warm down Technical development; specific practices to work on specific technical weaknesses Recording documentation: log or diary

8 Review: performance against targets, factors affecting technical and tactical development, recommendations for future plans and activities with timescales Goals: long-term and short-term; negotiated between player and coach/tutor, SMART targets

9 You have been divided into 3 groups, with 3 A3 blank sheets of paper for each group. Task1.1 Your group must read and research the assignment brief given to you by your teacher. Once you have understood it you must attempt to design a poster that will demonstrate all the knowledge needed to understand the specified assignment. The poster can include 12 words, and unlimited symbols, numbers, graphs or pictures. The entire group must work together to construct your poster. You have 12 minutes

11 The poster must include the following – What criteria it includes (P’s, M’s and D’s) – What each criteria means – Evidence needed – Dates to be done by – Assessor – Vocational context/scenario

12 Task1.2 2 people from each group must go to another table and gather as much information about the other 2 assignment briefs that they did not research. They must make notes on the new assignment brief. Meanwhile, 1 person from each group must stay with their poster and explain to the learners that approach them what their poster means and answer any questions (10 minutes)

13 Task 2.3. Students return to there group and must now complete their posters about the other 2 elements of the assignment brief that they researched (10 minutes)
