1 APLL Automotive Intermodal Overview September 2015

2 Kintetsu World Express and NOL entered into a “sale and purchase” agreement of APL Logistics on 2/17/15 Company Structure

3 APL launched Stacktrain in 1984, as a division of American President Lines, to enhance inland intermodal transportion via double stack services. The automotive industry in the United States quickly embraced the service, and used it increasingly in import and export operations of auto parts. The use of this service also spread to the interior of the United States, because of its efficiency, reliability, and cost savings. When OEMs built new automotive assembly plants in Mexico in the early 1990’s, Stacktrain expanded the double stack system to support the traffic between the United States and Mexico. This facilitated the supply of assembly parts via intermodal service and allowed OEMs to realize greater supply chain savings in the growing NAFTA corridor.
