6. THE GENOCIDE o In July 1995 Serb troops and paramilitaries led by Ratko Mladic descended on Srebrenica and began shelling it. 7. AFTER THE GENOCIDE o The first person to provide a hint of the extent of the killings was an American reporter, who risked his life to look for evidence and indeed was eventually arrested.
