3 Four Questions Who has an unlimited rewards budget? Has an employee ever asked for a raise? Have you ever lost a valued employee? Are you sure you know why they left?

4 Money It’s a great incentive. But it’s a terrible satisfier! People don’t work for money, they work for what they think the money can get them. It will eventually become a disincentive.

13 Time Treat people like adults. Give them control over their time. Create a culture of results not occupancy.

15 Tasks Reward people with the most interesting work. People work to the level they think you expect. Don’t burn out your best people.

18 Team Your employees care more about their co-workers than your company. People want to work with the best. Nobody wants to be a “Loser.”

20 Training Reward your people by investing in them. Development is both a management responsibility and an employee reward. Especially effective with younger workers... But offer development to everyone who merits it.

22 Talking A manager’s time and attention is the greatest motivational tool. Managers need to spend their time with their most productive assets. The manager’s credibility bank. Use praise and constructive feedback.
