2 1820 – James Madison is President After the Louisiana Purchase. States and Congress were freaking out about if those lands would be free or slave states. People feared if there was an imbalance of free vs slave, the strong group were take over the whole US.

4 - Feeling of pride, happiness and loyalty to your country. -The people of the US have this now because of their success in war growing the size of their of country 4X in 30 years.

8 1) Further efforts by European nations to colonize land or interfere with states in North or South America would be viewed as acts of aggression, requiring U.S. intervention. But the US wont get involved in what Europe has either.

10 Between John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. Controversy over votes occurs, Jackson is mad.

13 Jackson was a Southerner from the farm land John Quincy Adams was the son of the former president John Adams, and came from a wealthy family in the North.

14 Jackson utilized the “Spoils System.” Where a position of power is given to the friends of those in charge. Originally to create rotation in office to stop profiteering and corruption.

15 1. Bank was created by Alexander Hamilton to collect nations debt after Revolutionary. 2. 20 year contract was going to expire and Monroe wanted to extend it to pay for the War of 1812. Jackson thought the bank wasn’t doing anything and only help the rich and not fixing the debt.

16 3. Bank was also in charge of interest rates, debts, credit and tariffs. Jackson wanted to create his own national tariff, which pissed off some states (South Carolina.) Jackson caused a recession. 4. South Carolina votes on its own to not adhere to federal taxes, they nullified the law. Known as the Nullification Crisis. Where it was State vs Fed.
