3 Daily Life At The Mission  The Chumash ate fish, clams, mussels, abalone, wild plants, animals, shellfish, acorns, and corn soup.  The Spanish soldiers worked for the missionaries.  Children went to a place to study, while the adults worked.

4 Mission History In 1952 Santa Barbara went through an earthquake. The missionaries bribed the Indians with gifts, and the Indians where baptized and became Catholics.
