Something that is created by the project A tangible item that is created – a machine, an application, a document An intangible item that is created – a cultural change, an organisational structure Two types of products – Specialist products The products that are created for the customer – Management products Reports, plans, documents created to manage the project

Product Breakdown Structure Product Breakdown Structure is a hierarchal chart that shows the products that will be created in the project The product at the top of the hierarchy is the final product, the outcome of the project, stage or work package – The level below decomposes the final product into its major components – Each level below decomposes the product above into sub- components – Products at the lowest level can’t be broken down any further The team works on the product breakdown and comes to agreement on the structure
