2 How can I contact Mr. Wabel Sending e-mails:  Put your name (first and last) and class period in the subject line, or I will not open your message.  Remember the message is being sent to your English teacher, so please proofread your message before sending it.

4  Quarter/semester grade scale A=90-100 B=80-89 C=70-79 D=60-69 F=59 and below

5  Any assignment with excessive spelling, grammar, receive a 55%.  Any assignment that summarizes/paraphrases the text(s) will receive 55%.

6  10% Binder Check/Cornell Notes  10% Classwork/Homework  80% Assessments (quizzes/tests/essays/projects/presentations) Notice: 80% of your grade is based on assessments, writing, presentations, and projects.

7  3 days maximum  10% deduction for each day late.  Deduction is from points earned, not the total assignment points.  100 point assignment is 1 day late. You earned 80/100 points. 80-10%=70 points Presentations, projects, & final essay drafts will NOT be accepted late.

9  Assignments for this class only.  Work for other classes will be confiscated and submitted to that teacher at the end of the day.  If you finish early, read your independent reading book.  Off-task behavior or disruptive behavior = losing points from your assignment(s).

10  Check the “HW” on the board for due dates.  Check the “Agenda” on the board for assignments that will be collected.  Homework is submitted in the beginning of the class period. It will not be accepted later in the class period, during lunch, or after school. Even if you “forgot” to turn it in and then, find it in your backpack, you must fill out a “Late Pass”

11  All tests are announced.  Occasional pop quizzes, so be prepared.  Must be submitted by the end of the class period.  No electronic devices, verbal or non-verbal communication during assessments, or you will receive a ZERO.  Any notes used on assessments must be handwritten, not a photocopy of someone else’s notes or picture.  Must use your own notes.

12  Prompts based on class discussions and readings  Use any classroom material designated by the teacher(s)  Must be submitted by the end of the class period.

13  10 points: completion grade  5 points: incomplete drafts  Excessive spell/grammar/mech. errors=5 points  Summarizes text(s) = 5 points  No rough draft submitted=0  No rough draft submitted=final essay grade ZERO  Typed, hard copy to class

14  Rough draft must be submitted by due date.  No submitted rough draft=ZERO for final essay.  Typed, MLA format  In-text citations and works cited page  Computer/printer malfunctions will not be accepted as excuses for no essays

15  Everyday, you must bring a reading book to class. When you finish classwork early, you will read quietly.

16  Check the class crate.  Write down any notes.  Obtain handouts from crate (M-F).  Complete work, complete absence slip, and submit to class basket.  Make-up work within 3 days of the absence.  Questions: Before or after school only

17  Determined by class conduct  Not based on academic grade

18  Sign-in on the “Tardy” clipboard, even if you have a pass.  Date, period, name, and time must be completed.  Pass must be handed directly to Mr. Wabel.  Failure to sign-in means you have been marked absent.  Must be in classroom or you will be marked tardy!

19  Respect everyone and yourself!  Be in seat when tardy bell rings!  Be prepared to learn!  NO electronic devices!  NO food or drink!  Listen quietly when others are talking!  Raise your hand! Do not blurt out!  Only get up with permission!  Must be in seat when dismissal bell rings!  HAVE FUN!

20  Verbal Warning  Removal from room, followed by conference with the teacher(s)  Phone call home  Write-up  Referral  Any serious infraction will result in an immediate referral.

21  Should not be used  Should not be seen or heard  Out of sight: not on the desk, the floor, your lap, charging, etc.  One warning and then sent to house office for discipline.

22 Need help? Don’t wait until the end of the quarter. See me during lunch, before or after school for help. Be proactive; this is your education, your diploma, and your life. COME SEE ME FOR ANY REASON!
