1 CONSTRUCTIVIST PLAN Subject: Science Class 9th Duration 35 Minutes
Topic :- Tissue Sub Topic Plant Tissue

2 General Objective To Promote Spirit of enquiry, Experimentation and Observation. To interpret the impact of various phenomenon in our daily life. To promote problem solving and decision making attitude. To inculcate scientific attitude.

3 Specific Objectives At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1.Identify cells and Tissues. 2.Recognize meristematic tissue in plants and their function 3. Differentiate permanent tissues & complex tissues. 4.Recognize Constituents of phloem and xylem

4 Motivation Plant Cell Tissue

5 P.K. Testing What is cell? Do you know prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells? What are unicellular and multicellular organisms? What we call group of cells?

6 Presentation Tissue What is Tissue ?
A group of cells that are similar in structure and functions form tissue. Tissue Primary Cell Wall

7 Types of Tissues Lateral Meristem Plant Tissue Animal Tissue
Meristematic Tissue Permanent Tissue Apical Meristem Lateral Meristem Intercalary Meristem

8 Meristematic Tissue “The tissue which is made up of dividing Cells ”
It is also known as dividing tissue which helps in growth of plants. It lies at certain specific regions of plants .

9 Apical Meristem:- These are present at the growing tips of stem and root and help to increase their length. Shoot Apex Root Apex

10 Intercalary Meristem:- It is present at the base of leaves and internodes and helps in longitudinal growth of the plant.

11 Lateral Meristem:- These meristems are present in that areas of the plant where girth is required, so it increase the girth or diameter of the stem or roots. Meristematic Tissues Section showing increase in girth

12 ACTIVITY • Take two glass jars and fill them with water. • Now, take two onion bulbs and place one on each jar, as shown in fig. • Observe the growth of roots in both the bulbs for a few days. • Measure the length of roots on day 1,2 and 3. • On day 4, cut the root tips of the onion bulb in jar 2 by about 1 cm. After this observe the growth of roots in both the jars and measure their lengths each day for five more days and record the observations in tables

13 Group Formation Apical Intercalary Lateral

14 Permanent tissues are of two types:- Simple Permanent Tissue
These are specialised cells . They do not divide. Permanent tissues are of two types:- Simple Permanent Tissue They are composed of similar types of cells & are of three types:- Parenchyma :- thin cell wall living cells loosely packed intercellular spaces store food.

15 Intercellular spaces are very few. provides rigidity with flexibility.
(2) Collenchyma : cell wall thickened living cells. Intercellular spaces are very few. provides rigidity with flexibility.

16 Sclerenchyma :- Cells are dead Intercellular space is absent
Cell wall highly thickened Cells are dead Intercellular space is absent Provides mechanical support

17 (b) Complex Permanent Tissue:
different kinds of cells. They are of two types:- Xylem Tracheids, Vessels, Xylem parenchyma, xylem fibres.

18 2.Phloem :- Sieve tubes, Companion cells, Parenchyma, Phloem fibres.

19 Group Activity (TEACHER WILL MAKE 4 GROUPS) Tissue Group: What is the utility of tissues in multicellular organisms?

20 Apical Group 1.What is the role of apical meristem in plants? 2.Show the location of apical meristematic tissue in plant body? 3Write different kind of simple permanent tissues?

21 Intercalary Group What is the role of intercalary meristem?
Name the meristem which increase girth in plants. Name different types of phloem elements.

22 Lateral Group Show the location of intercalary and lateral meristem in plant body? What is the role of lateral meristem in plants? Name different xylem elements.

23 Presentation by the students
The students have completed their activity work and answered the asked questions by group discussion and active participation.

24 Evaluation of the students by the teacher
What is tissue? Are plants and animals made up of same tissue? Do animals and plants have same structure? How many types of tissue are present in plants?

25 Home Assignment Draw the structure of meristematic tissue.
Write the functions of different kinds of meristematic tissue. Draw the labelled diagram of different element of xylem and phloem along with their function

26 Thankyou Have a nice day

27 Question Bank: Q.1. Tick the correct option:
Choose the multicellular organism Amoeba (b) Paramecium (c ) Man (d) Euglena II.Tissue is made up of: Same cells with different functions. Different cells with different functions. Different cells with same funtions. Same cells with same funtions. III. Tissues are of ……………. Types: 3 (b) 4 (c ) 2 (d) 5 IV. Where is apical meristem founds? Nodes (b) Internodes (c ) Cambium (d) Tips of stem and roots.

28 Q.2. Fill in the blanks: The girth of the stem increases due to ……………………………………………………… Amoeba is …………………………. Organism. Intercalary meristem is present at the ………………….. Part of the plant. Apical meristem increases ……………………. Of the plant. Q.3. True/false: Animals and plants have same functions. Meristematic tissue is a dividing tissue. Apical meristem is found at the internodes of the plant. The girth of the stem increases due to intercalary meristem. Q.4.Label the diagram:

29 Q.5. What is tissue? Q.6. What is the utility of the tissues in multicellular organisms? Q.7. Differentiate between apical, intercalary and lateral meristem with the help of diagram.
