6 Regional Committee: Opening Address
Where does the One AFM Game Plan come from? Take a look at the AFM’s strategic history: 2000: NLF produced the AFM Master Plan. Was in place for a few years but not driven strongly enough. 2012: NLF accepted a 2nd plan called the Vision 20/20 plan. The focus of this plan is on the AFM’s apostolic or missional calling [The Great Commission as in Matthew]

7 Background The AFM’s strategic history (cont):
2013: Now there were 2 documents attempting to provide direction for the church. There was an uncertainty as to which document to promote. 2013: National Office Bearers consolidated the “AFM Master Plan” and the “Vision 20/20 Plan” to form one document providing the strategic direction for the church → The One AFM Game Plan.

8 Background The need for UNITY now became apparent:
One church following one plan!

9 Challenges Lack of mutual understanding when it comes to the meaning of our key focus areas: Empowerment Ecumenical Socio-Economic Relevance Governance Discipleship The AFM Strategy is a theoretical document. What is needed is practical definitions & actions that will establish a missional “way of doing things”, i.e. missional culture.

10 Challenges To achieve UNITY, and address the challenges - a process is needed that will help us to move from: Theory to practice. Ideas to activities. Words to actions. Definitions to culture. Insights to behaviour.

11 Solution The One AFM Game Plan!
What will the One AFM Game Plan do for the church? Strengthen commitment & passion. Create mutual understanding. Produce practical definitions . Define roles for people on all levels of the AFM. Develop communication capacity. Lead to the implementation of the strategy. Empower church leaders to measure and set objectives.

12 Solution One AFM Game Plan – what does it entail?
We think of all AFM Pastors & Colleagues as a TEAM. The AFM TEAM. The game? MISSIONAL CHURCH. [Biblical foundation for a sports metaphor] The stake? Fulfilling the Great Commission. The Regional Committee members become COACHES and MENTORS for their local pastors & assemblies. And in turn local pastors become Great Commission COACHES & MENTORS for their own assemblies. Notes: Explaining the Biblical Foundation for a Sports Metaphor Extract from Dr. Isak Burger’s presentation at the GBM in 2014: “World-wide many corporate companies make use of the "sports"-metaphor to enhance their effectivity and cooperation. Fortunately we find this practice abundantly in the New Testament where sport was as prominent and popular in the Roman world as it is with us today. There are so many appropriate analogies between a sports team and the church. Against this background you must understand terms like game plan, squads, coaches, mentors and team members.

13 Solution NOB (2013) NLF (2013) Regional Committees (2014)
AFM Pastors & Governing Bodies (2015) Assembly Leadership (2015) AFM Members (2016) Notes: Show how the One AFM Game Plan is (and will be) working on all levels of the AFM. This is also an opportunity to show our “One AFM Game Plan” video – which is a summary of all One AFM Game Plan activity to date.

14 Solution One AFM Game Plan on NLF Level:
NLF Launch on 19 November Birchwood Hotel & Conference Centre. NLF members are participating in an E-Learning Programme. NOB Members are acting as COACHES & MENTORS for the NLF members.

16 Solution One AFM Game Plan on Regional Committee Level:
NOB Regional Empowerment Sessions. Here Regional Leaders acted as COACHES for their Regional Committees.

17 Solution We, right your region/network name here, are ready to take the One AFM Game Plan to our Pastors & Governing Bodies. Take the first step in your One AFM Game Plan journey: ACCEPT THE CALL! Move from being a FAN to being an active, dedicated & committed PLAYER in the AFM TEAM. The Regional Committee invites YOU to ACCEPT THE CALL to be a PLAYER in the AFM TEAM. Remember to order your One AFM Game Plan shirt!

18 Fellowship – Tea Break Join us!

19 Congratulations! Now you are an official PLAYER in TEAM AFM!
Welcome to your training programme! The objectives of this 2-day training are: To train you as pastor and member of the governing body in the use of the One AFM Game Plan tool. At the end of the 2-days, give each assembly a One AFM Game Set of their own – encouraging our pastors to repeat the process with their assembly leadership.

20 The One AFM Game The One AFM Game is based on the following principles: LEARN THE GAME Surely a winning team needs to know their game! Good knowledge of the rules and terminology is a must. In the One AFM Game we review the meaning of our key focus areas. TALK GAME PLAN No team can be successful without a Game Plan! In a winning team every player knows what their role is. In the One AFM Game we translate definitions to actions; and in this process identify what our specific role is.

21 Play! (Card 1 – 11) Notes: From here on there are timers which can be used throughout to pace the sessions. For these timers to work, follow the next instructions very carefully: Create a NEW folder on your Desktop – name it “Game Plan Empowerment” Save this Power Point Presentation in this folder. Also in this folder, save the two video files (that can be downloaded from the website). The timer will only work if the two video files are saved within the SAME folder as the Power Point Presentation.

22 Missional The Great Commission – Mt. 28:19.
It’s the result of John 3:16. It’s the real business of the church. It’s fundamental to everything we do. It’s engraved in our name. It’s the reason for our existence. 39 Finish! Thank you for participating in the Regional Empowerment Session. The way forward... Today all of you were part of a significant process which aims to UNIFY the AFM → One church following one plan. You received training in using a tool that will help you to grow your missional assembly → without disregarding your current assembly mission and vision.

40 Finish! What happens next?
Each pastor receives a One AFM Game Box to take back to their assemblies. Each Game Box contains all the material that is required to repeat the Game with assembly leaders. A special RESOURCE CD is also included – packed with information, electronic resources and a step-by-step help guide for the pastor. Now a pastor can present the One AFM Game Plan Empowerment to his/her assembly leaders.

41 Finish! What happens next?
After presenting the One AFM Game Plan Empowerment, the pastor will be required to record the results on a Power Point Template (which is on the RESOURCE CD) and send this back to the committee. The committee will provide feedback on each Power Point Template that is received. From this point forward, the committee will use this feedback to provide coaching and mentorship to local assemblies.

42 Finish! What happens next?
6. Resist the temptation to present the One AFM Game Plan to the members of the church marks the beginning of a special roll-out to our members. However, before this can happen we need to ensure that colleagues on all levels of the AFM has been exposed to this process. Our member roll-out will be the most important step in the whole One AFM Game Plan process!

44 Together, moving in unity to fulfil our God-given missional calling!
