1 PAREX COLOR TINTING PROGRAM
TINTING SEMINAR PAREX COLOR TINTING PROGRAM

2 Color Program Objectives
Inform you of some of the changes Parex is making in the Color Department. Show you that these changes will be beneficial for both of us. Motivate one another to look at the broad scope of things, and see what lies in the future. Show the way things are done at Parex, and see if we can improve through your help.

3 Establishing a Positive Mindset
We visualize success We visualize our Distributors success We value the input you give us We use these tools to prepare for the next century. Having open minds helps us use the information you give us, and apply it to better serve you.

4 Calibrating The Tint Dispenser
We will be sending the calibration kits out in May. We will show you how to calibrate the Tint Dispenser. We will show you how to recognize if your tint dispenser is out of calibration. We will show you how to repack your tint machine, and change a valve.

5 Why are 300 and 500 series finishes different?
PERFORMANCE Our 300 series is formulated differently causing the changes in the color formula. Switching from 300 to 500 without changing formulas will cause a mis-tint.

6 Switching From 300 to 500 Series
Here is the conversion calculation: to to C-36 *.85 C C /.85 C-36 L-43 *.85 L L / L-43 Note: If you are unsure you can call the Color Department.

7 USING THE COLOR CHART Being able to use the color chart will help you quickly create a custom color using a variation of our color standards. This in turn will decrease down time, and increase your revenue. How do we lighten or darken a standard formula?

8 COLOR CHART CALCULATIONS
for lightening Standard formula C I-Y9 L-2Y32 Ex:(42-25%=31.5) (Y9 or 57-50%=28.5) note: 2Y32=128 parts Ex.(2Y32-75%=32) 25% less C I L-2Y 50% less C I L-Y16 75% less C I L-32

9 CALCULATIONS CONT.. 324 10424 for Darkening
Standard Formula: C I-Y9 L- 2Y32 Ex.(42+25%=52.5/48=1.09-1=.09*48=4.5) (Y9+50%=85.5/48=1.78-1=0.78*48=37.5 25% C-Y4.5 I-Y23 L-3Y16 50% C-Y15 I-Y37.5 L-4Y 75% C-Y25.5 I-2Y4 L-4Y32

10 CREATING A PRIMER FORMULA
Creating Primer formulas for 310 and 313 Example: C-42 I-Y9 L-2Y32 42*2=84/48= =.75*48=Y36 57*2=114/48= =.375*48=2Y18 Y = 48 parts of an ounce. 2Y = 96 parts of an ounce

11 RECHECKING THE FUNDAMENTALS
Do you double check the formula to make sure that it is correct. Do you keep accurate records of all your samples orders. Do you keep an accurate maintenance schedule on the tint machine. Do you use the Tint Manual as a guide.

12 Keeping On Top Of Things
Try to solve any color needs in advance. You’re the Expert so anticipate your customers needs. Gather as much information about the job as you can from your customer. Tend to the customer first, accurately and efficiently.

13 Color Problem Factors Supplemental orders or multiple batch numbers may cause problems. Rain, sudden increase or decrease in temperature may cause a problem. Time is a contributing factor. Fading will occur in the color. The need to have a physical sample in these cases is critical.

14 Use the Tint Manual! It covers:
TINTING IS A PROCESS... Use the Tint Manual! It covers: General Information Policies Formula requests Tinting procedures Color Standards This is our bible on how to handle color.

15 Tint Manual Procedures:
Verify that the formula is the correct color and texture, and the sample is approved. Select the proper tint base. Check tint canister to make sure that it is at least 50% full. Dispense the formula into one pail. Blend the material until it is evenly dispersed.

16 Tinting Procedures Continued:
Check color against standard, approved sample, or lab prepared batch card. If match is acceptable then proceed with tinting the order. If match is unacceptable, check formula & contact the Color Department. If you change batch numbers, recheck color.

17 Tinting Tips from Parex
Send a significant amount of relevant material to match. We will need a good size sample. Get the formula in writing. Don’t change the formula(no rounding up or down. Don’t be distracted while tinting.

18 Tinting Tips Continued;
Tint Dispenser: Stir pigments 15 to 30 minutes a day (timer). Thoroughly mix the pigment in finish. Nozzle needs to be clean at all times. Check the first pail against the sample. Check the following pails against the first pail.

19 Tinting Tips Continued:
300 and 500 series tint differently ! If you do not drill the pail, use a separate container to supply the pigment (tint cups). Buy all pigments from Parex.

20 We have added new Tinting equipment
Computerized pigment Dispenser (ABC machine) set up in Redan in Oct. 98 and in French Camp in Feb. 99. Evaluation is now complete on the new Blendorama manual dispenser.

21 New Color Equipment continued:
Installed light boxes for both plants Installed shakers to shake pigments before use. A single pail mixing system has recently been installed in both Parex locations., and is currently available to all interested Distributors.

22 Still in the works… Three new finishes ( sand fine, course, and swirl) will become available as the result of combining our 300 and 500 finishes. New color formulations will be complete as of the 1st of May this year.

23 The Goals of the Color Department:
Have Distributor tint as much finish at their location as possible. Have a user friendly system. Stay ahead of the competition. Keep up with modern technology. Zero Color Complaints!!

24 You Can Create Colors You will be supplied materials to assist you in color matching at your location. You will receive instructions as how to utilize these materials. These materials are yours to keep for future reference.

25 Pastels and Midtones Use quart formula, divide by 4, and add resulting formula to 2,000 grams (4.4 lbs.) of for 300 series finish. For the 500 series finishes, add the formula to 2500 grams (5.5 lbs.) of material.

26 Deep Bases Use quart formula, divide by 4 and add the resulting formula to 1,000 grams (2.2 lbs.) of for 300 series finish. For the 500 series finishes, add the formula to 1250 grams (2.75 lbs.) of material.

27 Ultra Deep Bases Use the quart formula, divide by 4, and add to 1,000 grams (2.2 lbs.) of base for either the 300 or 500 series. NOTE: ALWAYS add KX to any base. The minimum amount of KX to be used is .5 parts.

28 Building For The Future
Parex is a Pioneer in Distributor Tinting Color has been a building block for Parex. Let’s keep it as a competitive advantage. Help us to help you, and together we can work to achieve a profitable, trouble-free future! Thanks for Your Help
