EOC TESTING IN TRADITIONAL AND NON-TRADITIONAL SETTINGS
KDE and ACT have responded for the need to support students earning credit in alternative pathways.  A new flexible process has been established for students completing courses in non-traditional settings.  Students completing courses with an EOC assessment may test at any time during the KDE established windows (i.e., December 1-January 15, February 1-March 15, etc.).

Order EOC test materials through the QualityCore® online system.
Special test materials (i.e., Braille, large-print, audio CD and reader’s scripts) ordered by fax.
ACCOMODATIONS:
Accommodations available based on the student’s current Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504 Plan or PSP.
ENGLISH LEARNERS:
First year EL students enrolled in a U.S. school are exempt from accountability. Students are required to attempt Algebra II and Biology for NCLB participation rate.
Second year or more EL students fully participate.
Accommodations are available for students with a Program Services Plan (PSP).
100-DAY RULE:
Students must be enrolled in the school 100 days for the EOC to be accountable to the school. This is based on the district’s accountability date (the summative test window in the last 14 days of the district’s instructional calendar).

A psychometric study linking QualityCore® results (scale scores) of multiple-choice score to student class grades was developed. KDE is reviewing the scale score linkage based upon Kentucky scores.

LINKING END-OF-COURSE STUDENT SCORES TO LETTER GRADES
KDE has worked with HumRRO and local educators to provide a link between QualityCore End-of-Course (EOC) student scores and letter grades.  KDE is recommending a letter grade for EOC inclusion rather than a percentage because of the great variety of grading scales used in Kentucky districts and schools.  The EOC grading scale has been created using the statistical link between EOC scale scores and the ACT college readiness benchmarks adopted by Kentucky’s Council of Postsecondary Education.

Who is Tested?
All grade 11 students, except Alternate Assessment, foreign exchange and first year EL.
Any student retained in grade 11 should complete the ACT assessment again.
Any grade 12 student who has not had the opportunity to take the ACT, may take the assessment.
Grade 12 students who enter Kentucky public schools as seniors that have transferred from another state or from private schools may take the ACT state administration. Submit listing of these students prior to testing to
Guiding Philosophy-All students should have the opportunity to take every test.
Reference that if a student is in grade 10 at the beginning of the year, they are expected to graduate at the end of the school year. They should have the opportunity to take the ACT. They would need to be listed on the roster as a grade 11 student when the ACT roster is pulled.
A grade 12 student who missed as an 11th grader can be added to the roster and then complete the test.
***New for 2012***
Seniors new to Kentucky public schools may take the ACT state administration in March.  Students who enter Kentucky public schools as seniors that have transferred from another state or from private schools may take the ACT state administration.  Foreign exchange students are exempt from ACT testing.
Please complete the spreadsheet from the 11/28/2011 DAC Monday if your high school(s) have seniors who will be testing and return to prior to testing.

The data used to identify students is the state and ACT National Test data.  Note: The student pool was based upon State ACT rosters and seniors listed in Infinite Campus (IC). COMPASS® assessments are only available to grade 12 students through the KDE COMPASS® system.

Computer Adaptive Testing sessions are untimed and begin with a question of medium complexity.
If the student answers correctly, then a harder level question will appear.
If the student answers incorrectly, an easier level question will display.
This back and forth approach continues until the program determines the level of the student with 90% accuracy.
Two score reports will print immediately-one for the student and one for the school.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
