2. What is Deforestation? Deforestation is the mass cutting down of trees through natural or man- caused disasters. Natural disasters include tornadoes, volcano eruptions, hurricanes, and droughts. Man caused deforestation include commercial and illegal logging, the “slash and burn” method, and clear cutting. These methods can be stopped although the natural disasters cannot because it is part of nature.
