Student Planner Place this in the proper place October 8, 2015 Measuring experiment due Tuesday END OF PLANNER

2 End of planner Put it away - will stamp and grade planners tomorrow.

4 Summary of last class We had a standard opening. We completed our observations and data collection on the Salt Crystal lab.

5 Write your answer to last class’s Essential Question: Describe the salt crystals you observed.

Topic/Objective:Name: Crystal model construction Class/Period: Date: Oct 8 Essential Question: How is a crystal model representative of a crystal?

Write the following in your warm up: Today’s warm up is the vocabulary test.

Write the following in your warm up: Today’s warm up is the vocabulary test.

Control, Variable, Factor, and parameter Vocabulary Quiz October 8, 2015

NO talking Closed notes Do not look on other’s paper Make sure you put your name, date, period on the top right of your answer sheet. Bubble in your Student ID number in the proper place.

Vocabulary Control and Variable Terms 1. A variable that remains unchanged to prevent it affecting the test. a) Dependent variable; b) Independent variable c) controlled Variable d) Control group

2. the results of an independent factor’s influence on a test a) Experimental group b) Independent factor c) Controlled factor d) Dependent factor e) Control group

3. it's what the investigator thinks will be affected during the experiment. a) Control group b) Independent variable c) controlled Variable d) Dependent variable

4. anything that could influence a test, but is controlled (prevented) from doing such. a) Control group b) Independent variable c) controlled factor d) Dependent variable

5. the selected factor that will be used to affect the test. a) Dependent factor b) Independent factor c) Controlled factor d) Experimental group e) Control group

6. it is what the investigator thinks will affect the dependent variable a) Dependent variable; b) Independent variable c) controlled Variable d) Control group

7. A boundary or limit in the test that will not affect the test. a) Experimental group b) Control group c) Dependent parameter d) Independent parameter e) Controlled parameter

8. A limit that is different from other limits, thus having an affect on the test a) Independent parameter b) Control group c) Dependent parameter d) Experimental group e) Controlled parameter

9. A result of having an independent parameter in the test. a) Experimental group b) Control group c) Dependent parameter d) Independent parameter e) Controlled parameter

10. the set of tests that does not have the independent variable, thus should not have a change in the outcome a) Experimental group b) Control group c) Dependent parameter d) Independent parameter e) Controlled parameter

11. the set of tests that does have the independent variable thus should have a change in the outcome a) Controlled parameter b) Control group c) Dependent parameter d) Independent parameter e) Experimental group

END OF TEST

Homework Measuring Lab write up due Tuesday. Construct the crystal model due Wednesday.

Today’s Work Construct Crystal Model

Instructions 1. On one facet, put your name, period, date. 2. On a second facet, write the name of the crystal 3. Lightly color all facets of the crystal

3. On a third facet, draw 3 3. 4. On a third facet, draw 4 rows of 10 columns of molecules, showing how crystals are formed from repeating patterns of molecules.

5. Cut out the model on the SOLID lines. 6. Fold on the dotted lines. Make sure your written material is exterior so it can be seen. 7. Glue or tape tabs making the model self standing. 8. Turn in completed by Wednesday.
