Starting with Photojournalists Telling stories with pictures Paintings do this, but… An iconic photo captures the moment when it happens. That means a photographer has to be there to capture the moment: war, championship, wedding, celebration, winning catch, etc… 2

Along Came the Video Camera With nearly 30 frames per second (fps) or photos per second, video cameras put real life in real time. Video means more than just capturing the moment. It means witnessing history. 3

Video Journalism A Video Journalist (VJ) can also document concepts and ideals. These type of videos can have many different forms: Commercials Documentaries Wedding videos Etc… 4

Modern Video Journalists Now just about anyone, anywhere can be a video journalist. Nearly every cell phone is now a video camera, so capturing the moment has never been easier. 5

Stay on topic. Use good visual design. Use consistent lighting (if possible). Film more than you need. Do not be afraid to edit your story. Be concise. 6

Through the Camera’s Eye Video Journalist (Project Requirements): Create a 60-90 second video to be viewed by the entire class. Use a storyboard to plan the video. Use at least 3 different pieces of video footage. Do not use sound in the video. 7 Topics Trust, Loneliness, Joy, Pain, Time, Style, Grace, Fear, Boundaries, or teacher approved
