GLAST LAT ProjectSept 15, 2006: Pre-Ship Review Presentation 12 of 12 Quality Assurance 6 Software QA LAT QA supported the V&V and documentation of flight and test software modifications throughout operations at NRL, following procedures established at SLAC FSW Builds -LAT QA participated in FSW CCB to track and document approved changes to FSW, test script or test procedures -FSW build list is audited and checked for expected results -QA witnesses formal tests and reviews data prior to new FSW release I&T Test Scripts and Test Software -LAT QA participates in I&T CCB to review changes -Participates in tabletop reviews for test script code development -QA reviews/approves test procedure, witnesses test and creates data package to complete V&V of script or test software application JIRA database was used to track and document changes to flight and test software

GLAST LAT ProjectSept 15, 2006: Pre-Ship Review Presentation 12 of 12 Quality Assurance 7 Contamination Control and ESD Contamination control and ESD requirements were successfully maintained at NRL -Clean tent at NRL provided Class 100K environment at NRL -LAT remained bagged during vibration and acoustic testing, and during movement between test areas. -Approved plan allowed removal of static dissipative bagging from LAT during EMI/EMC testing to avoid interference of bagging material with test -When not under test, LAT was bagged and portable HEPA filters were used in test cell -Personnel wore cleanroom gowning at all times in EMI/EMC test cell -Use of grounding wrist straps, dissipative smocks and hardware grounding was implemented throughout LAT testing operations at NRL. -Relative humidity excursions beyond allowable range were experienced at NRL -Bagging and certified GN2 purge per the LAT Contamination Control Plan provided protection to the LAT and allowed operations to continue until high %RH was adjusted back to acceptable levels -One occurrence of low %RH (<25%) resulted in brief work stoppage -Helium monitoring proceeded throughout testing at NRL without incident (per ACD Helium Monitoring Plan ACD-PLAN-000152) LAT surface cleanliness requirement (Level 650B per MIL-STD-1246) has been verified with tape lifts and solvent wipe samples following T/V test.

GLAST LAT ProjectSept 15, 2006: Pre-Ship Review Presentation 12 of 12 Quality Assurance 8 Outgassing certification for LAT T/V test Bakeout of chamber and GSE was completed prior to LAT T/V test to ensure the chamber and test equipment will not be a source of condensable contamination during LAT T/V test. -Empty chamber was vacuum baked at 100 deg C until chamber outgassing level met GSFC certification -Chamber with test GSE was vacuum baked at 80 deg. C in a separate bakeout. LAT outgassing certification was achieved during the LAT T/V test -The outgassing rate of the LAT was measured at the end of LAT bakeout and was below the maximum allowable rate All outgassing rates were measured using two thermally-controlled quartz crystal microbalances (TQCMs)

GLAST LAT ProjectSept 15, 2006: Pre-Ship Review Presentation 12 of 12 Quality Assurance 9 System Safety SLAC System Safety procedures and documentation were created to assess and mitigate risks during NRL operations -Risks were identified and documented prior to LAT arrival at NRL SLAC and GSFC System Safety personnel cooperated to provide direct monitoring during hazardous operations and critical LAT lifts/moves -System Safety monitoring during NRL operations raised risk awareness among personnel Crane, lift fixture and test stand proof load verifications were in place for NRL operations -Only issue was a slightly bent wire rope on the 20 ton crane in A59 highbay -Prior to use for a LAT lift, the rope was replaced and the crane recertified
