3 25-3 MAVEN IPSR October 30,31, 2012 SMA SUMMARY Workmanship -SMA supported PMB, PWA fabrication, assembly modifications, tuning efforts, repair/rework, box integration, and training (training at JPL, RMV, and informal in-house) Configuration Management -FHW – Checked FLT Binder documentation and PFR status to confirm readiness, before start of testing -FSW – ongoing support of informal and formal reviews, walk-throughs, and monthly reports -Documentation Control – Performed FLT document reviews, and updates Work Order Management -Travelers – Reviews performed by SSL QA and GSFC QA -Procedures – Performed procedure reviews -Inspections – Ongoing - Performed by SSL QA and GSFC QA.

4 25-4 MAVEN IPSR October 30,31, 2012 SMA SUMMARY Metrology & Calibration -Performed the monthly checks (Tools and Certifications) – no issues. Scanned 100% of all certifications for EIDP delivery. Training -Performed certifications review – no issues -Cleanroom, PP, ESD, and Documentation training – no issues -Held SSL Safety Training Meetings -LM Training for SSL team members to meet LM in-house requirements might be necessary. Contact with C. Love - in progress. -LL: Suspect counterfeit awareness training is planned for SMA and purchasing personnel - NA-HQ-2012-00 PFR-NCR SPR-SCR System -PFR-NCR database revised and updated, documentation - in progress -SPR-SCR list revised and updated, documentation - in progress

5 5 SMA SUMMARY Quality -Inspections of all FLT unit assemblies, PWA, boxes, and harnesses – ongoing. All issues are documented in PFR System. -Testing - Provided support for offsite testing, such as, EMC, Vibration testing setup and testing. Supported In-house testing, such as, TVAC set-up and testing of the instruments -Supported of LASP EUV efforts at SSL -Continuous inspections of Flight assembly, cleanroom, and test areas by SSL and GSFC QA -Supported PW board modifications/tuning and rework/repair -Supported integration and de-integration activities of the Instrument Stacks (PFDPU, SWEA, SWIA, SEP, LPW, STATIC)

6 6 SMA SUMMARY ESD Control -Implementation, equipment, maintenance, measurement, and training are addressed in the SSL ESD Control Plan (Rev. B) -Supported the annual independent ESD Control verification and performed the monthly survey – no issues -SSL MAVEN team ESD training was performed, as required Material Processes and Parts Control -Updated EEE parts, Flight fastener, and Materials databases -As-built BOM documentation. ABPL for all instruments are complete -Alert response reports (GIDEP) – Provided disposition and updated the alert response database – no issues (ref. GIDEP slide) -Polymerics – Updated mix record database. Performed polymeric witness sample testing, filing, inspections, and documentation.

7 7 SMA SUMMARY Facilities / Equipment -Continuous inspections of Flight assembly, vendor and in-house test areas by SSL and GSFC QA -Provided cleanroom support - cleaning of parts, continuous supplies, and maintenance, for all MAVEN cleanrooms -Industrial Safety: Provided support of chemical, hazardous waste inventory and UCB EH&S interaction Delivery Readiness -End Item Data Acceptance Package – ongoing -Reviewed LM AIRR list – ongoing -Support of shipping effort

16 25-16 MAVEN IPSR October 30,31, 2012 GIDEP Alerts & Problem Advisories As of 10/28/12, SSL SMA checked a quantity of 463 alerts As of 10/28/12, SSL SMA closed a quantity of 463 alerts Four (4) impact alerts were mitigated and closed 1.Alert “051910 email from Oscar” Added a note to board drawings that “The use of brominated polyimide is unacceptable.” SMA produced PWA specification for MAVEN – SOW 2.KE1-P-11-02, SOTA, solderable thin film MIL-PRF-55342 resistors were produced with defective end terminations. A) Date Codes not used. B) Additional inspections were implemented 3.RS2-P-11-0, Microsemi, diode re-classified as ESD Class 0 – installed ESD class 0 workbench, device installed at JPL. 4.NA-HQ-2012-001, Checked approx. 400 vendors, - no impact, used MFG authorized vendors only and received certs.

18 25-18 MAVEN IPSR October 30,31, 2012 SMA – Concerns & Observations Concerns – All concerns are well understood and are closely monitored by the SSL and GSFC QA teams. Pending – Expect two red flag PFRs (SWEA PFR 059 and PFR 122) – LM monitoring for both. Communications and working relationship of the experienced MAVEN PFP teams are excellent.
