21 Begin with a gesture, focusing on the whole figure before the parts.

22 Using vertical, horizontal, angle and distance measuring, begin to find the proportions and major turns of the torso, legs, arms and head.

23 Analyze the major shapes of the figure that are building the form,as well as the placement of the major landmarks of the figure. ( i.e. Knees, elbows, bony landmarks of the skeleton etc.)

24 Carefully refine your measurements.

25 Look for the smaller shapes within the big shapes. (i.e shapes within the light mass and shadow mass).

26 Slowly work your way to smaller shapes like the eye sockets. ye sockets.

27 Gradually refine some of the geometric lines into a more organic description of the figure. Be careful not to become so involved with the curves or the roundness of a line that you lose the carefully analyzed structure of any area.
