The artist Dorothy McEntee made a type of art called a print. This is a relief print of her pet cat asleep on a chair.

A relief print is made from a raised surface. All the areas that will be blank (the negative space) are cut away and only the raised part (the positive form) is inked.

Do you see all of the white lines and shapes? That is where the printing plate was cut or dented. Think of an animal that you want to draw for your print, then draw it on a sheet of paper. Where does the animal live? What is it doing?
