5 Today’s Lesson Today you are going to use a popsicle stick and a toothpick to create an artwork using a scratch art board Skill Development: Art@Booksin Introduce students to using new materials i.e.: popsicle sticks and toothpicks as tools and a scratch art board Improving our fine motor skills by creating a piece of scratch art

6 WHAT IS SCRATCH ART? Art@Booksin Scratchboard Art is a 2-dimensional, subtractive medium that involves the use of abrasive tools to directly remove a surface layer of one value (typically dark) to expose a secondary layer of a contrasting value (typically white).

12 1.Write our name on the back of our paper 1.Think about what you want to sketch 1.Once you have an idea of what you want to draw decide if you need to use the popsicle stick or toothpick 1.Slowly scratch off the black using your tool(toothpick or popsicle stick) 1.GO SLOW AND THINK. You CAN NOT undo anything on your scratch board 1.Make sure you have a whole scene on your scratch board Art@Booksin
