3 The Troubles Protestants fully control the north’s government Irish Catholics face discrimination, lack of jobs, no rights and violence Catholics restart the IRA. Their goal was an armed campaign against Protestants and unification with Ireland Protestants form paramilitary organizations like UVF against Catholics & to ensure N. Ireland remains British Over 3,000 people die during “The Troubles” (30 years)

4 Agreement calls for a power-sharing self government in N. Ireland
Good Friday Agreement 1998: Unionists & Republicans (Sinn Fein) along with the British & Irish Governments signed the Good Friday Peace Accord Agreement calls for a power-sharing self government in N. Ireland After the agreement, the IRA ended its campaign of violence However, DUP (unionist) leader Dr. Ian Paisley refused to enter into a government with Sinn Fein NO SINN FEIN!!
