Importance of a Board Why have one? Gather expertise from people outside your staff team Have many voices represented to guide your organization Support for your senior leader Continuity and organizational memory during leadership transitions Many other reasons involving oversight, strategy, risk, etc. You have to, if you want to incorporate “Why do you want to have a Board?”

3 Importance of a Board If you incorporate, your governing body is a Board of Directors or Board of Trustees. Whether or not your group is incorporated, a governing body is beneficial; it can play many important roles to enhance the impact of your work in the community. Even if you don’t have a “Board”, you can use this toolkit to decide the role you want your governing body to play.
