1 Why is it important we teach PDHPE in primary schools? 16531244 – Elly Haynes.

2  PDHPE is one of the six key learning areas in the NSW primary curriculum.  It is extremely important that we teach our students PDHPE as it encourages students to make informed decisions related to health and physical activity so that they develop an overall healthy lifestyle.

3  Physical activity builds strength and maintain mobility.  Promotes exercise and healthy physical attitudes.  Being involved in team sports helps students develop communication skills.  Games and sports provide vital skills such as decision making and problem solving.

4  Physical activity can help children concentrate on their school work better, it helps promote their mood and social skills.  Not only does involvement in physical activity benefit students physically, but it also benefits them socially and emotionally.

5  In PDHPE we teach children about growth and development, Interpersonal relationships, personal health choices and safe living.  All these issues help students to lead a healthy active lifestyle.
