2 Creating a Website – Planning Stage  BEFORE you start writing content -- you need to do some planning  AUDIENCE -- who do you think will visit your site?  GOALS -- what do you want to accomplish with this site?  FLOWCHART -- map out a logical layout of pages to guide visitors through your site  SITE ORGANIZATION CHART – map out the links and sections you’ll have in your site

3 Example: Creating a Recipe Site  Audience: Friends and family (and other interested parties) who might want to try my favorite recipes.  Goal: To make it easy for people to try out my recipes and to comment on them.

5 Example: Site Organization Chart  Main Pages Home – where I’ll talk about my cooking philosophy and the types of food I want to share Steak – where I’ll share my favorite steak recipes Dessert – where I’ll share my favorite dessert recipes Veggies – where I’ll share my favorite vegetable recipes  Sub-Pages Each individual recipe  “Steak”, “Dessert”, “Vegetarian”
