8 STRATEGIES FOR MARKETING INTERVENTIONS To promote ‘Income generation’ of Farm families through “Better market price realization” following strategies are being adopted. 1.Market driven crops and suitable varieties according to local situations 2.Encouraging procurement through Government agencies or Cooperatives. 3.Reducing the cost of production 8

9 9 Objective of market intervention is to protect the interest of the farmers in the sale of agricultural produce, to ensure remunerative price and to protect them from the clutches of unscrupulous traders In view of the unstable market prices during peak season due to excess production, A.P. government is intervening through Nodal agencies like NAFED, APMARKFED, APOILFED for procurement of cereals, coarse grains, pulses and oil seeds under MSP operations When ever there is glut situation, the commodities which are not covered under MSP operations are being procured through nodal agency like APMARKFED under MIS operations.
